This entry is in regards to Alfred Packer, the 'Colorado Cannibal'. This is a real person, not an urban legend or a myth or anything. Read the Wiki page for details.
I went and paid a visit to his grave.

Yes, there were coins and rocks sitting on top of the stone. In case he needs a pack of smokes or something, I suppose.

Since he was military, he has his regiment listed on his stone (Company F, US 16th Infantry). What he does not have are birth and death dates, you know, like most headstones list. If you're too lazy to look at the Wiki page, Alfred Packer lived from January 21, 1842 - April 23, 1907.

There is a giant concrete slab covering his grave site. To keep him in, I suppose. I mean, no one really wants him running around eating people still, right? Actually, the slab is allegedly there to prevent desecration and the like, as there was supposedly an attempt at digging him up at some point. Whether that story is actually true or not is rather suspect, but either way there's a concrete slab there.
So, who wants to go summon him up?
He is buried in the Littleton Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado. As an aside, this was a very interesting cemetery and I have a good deal of pictures to share from it. It has some creepy aspects to it and it's also quite large - much larger than I was led to believe. I'll get some of the other photos up soon. Meanwhile, go read Alfred's Wiki page, because I'm not going to rehash the entire story here when it's already in print over there. Just click the link way back at the beginning of the post and enjoy...
